— Issue #75

Hi folks,

Here we are and it’s Friday again! Are you energized for the weekend or exhausted after the work week? Both?

The conference I told you I was going to this week was a success, looks like it’s already ROI-positive based on just the folks who signed up for CrankWheel during the conference. Read on to take advantage of the same offer we used to get them to sign up on the spot.

Tool of the week

Verloop — Automated Customer

Verloop lets you build a FAQ bot and chatbot, for automated customer engagement. Looks pretty cool, and for now while they’re doing a betalist, you get not only their smallest plan (25K messages/month) for free, but their next plan above that (100K messages/month) is free for 3 months.

Tools I actually used recently

This is similar to HARO, except specialized for reporters to ask technology questions, and technologists to give answers. Might help you get some PR!

Kparser | Free keyword research tool

This looks pretty powerful, and although you don’t get the volume or CPC for keywords without signing up, you do get something they call the Kparser rank.

BEE free | Free online email editor to build responsive layout

Looks like a pretty nice tool to build rich, responsive emails, for example for your onboarding series or transactional emails, in case you want something nicer than a plain-text email.

MJML Responsive Email Templates

Another solution for responsive emails is to use one of this collection of responsive email templates written in MJML, which is a specialized markup language to create HTML email (I’ve used the language and compiler and it’s pretty neat).

Discounts for our Audience

CrankWheel C2C Offer

I’m extending the same offer we were running during the C2C conference earlier this week to all subscribers. The offer is to get 3 months for the price of 3 weeks on any standard plan, and our unconditional money-back guarantee is also extended to 90 days (normally 30). Hurry, the coupon is only good until September 8th!

Build Your Own SMS Chat Using Twilio Toll Free Numbers

I stumbled upon this when I was looking at the Liveninja chat tool mentioned above. This article teaches you how to build SMS-based chat for your website, in case you want something a bit more custom (and cheaper in the long run to operate) than Liveninja.

That’s it for this issue

I hope this has been a great week for you and you have something fun planned over the weekend. I’m energized but it’ll be a busy next few days for me (including this weekend), as my startup is moving to new digs and there is lots to prepare.

Have a good one! Until next week,

I keep recommending Toptal because they’re a solid choice if you need a solid freelancer for development. They screen to find the top 3% of freelance talent, and there’s a 2-week no-risk guarantee if you’re not happy with the talent they match you with.
